Look: 'Peaky Blinders' sequel introduces Charlie Heaton as Tommy's son
May 22 (UPI) -- Charlie Heaton has joined the cast of the Peaky Blinders sequel series.
Netflix announced Friday that Heaton, an actor known for playing Jonathan Byers on Stranger Things, will star as Charles Shelby, the younger son of Peaky Blinders' Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy).
Bell, meanwhile, was previously announced to portray Charles' older half-brother, Duke Shelby.
"Charles is now embracing normality and hasn't seen his half-brother Duke in years. He's severed all ties to the Peaky Blinders gang, and the hedonistic Shelby lifestyle. But can you ever escape your own blood?" Netflix wrote on Instagram.
The original Peaky Blinders was created by Steven Knight and had a six-season run from 2013 to 2022. The show followed Tommy Shelby, the head of the Peaky Blinders gang in post-World War I England.
The sequel takes place in the 1950s following the events of the Peaky Blinders movie, The Immortal Man, and is currently envisioned to play out over the span of two six-episode seasons.
Jessica Brown Findlay, Lashana Lynch and Lucy Karczewski also star.
Knight returns as series creator and writer.
