Popular '90s Digital Toy Makes a Nostalgic Comeback After 30 Years-With a Twist

For nineties kids, the mere mention of the word Tamagotchi might bring back an array of fond memories, when raising and nurturing our pixelated pets was the highlight of our days.

In celebration of the legendary toy's 30th anniversary, the much-loved pocket-sized childhood toy is making a comeback, with a twist, thanks to an extensive collaboration with another iconic brand.

Today, May 22, CASETiFY announced a new collection featuring the Japanese game. The phone accessory brand's most expansive and culturally relevant drops to date, the CASETiFY x Tamagotchi collection is helmed by CASETiFY's first-ever custom-branded Tamagotchi device.

The collection, which will be released online and in select CASETiFY Studios on May 29, features a vast selection of accessories for consumers of all ages, starting at $36.

Headlining the range, the CASETiFY Exclusive Tamagotchi Device features a custom CASETiFY Logo Shell in a royal blue hue with cute emoticons adding a whimsical touch. The Tamagotchi Plush Earbuds Pouch are an adorable way to keep wireless earbuds safe and secure. Branded straps and charms include a versatile 3-Way Strap which can be adjusted to varying lengths for different uses, a Silicone Phone Charm with a detachable plush charm, and a metal Tamagotchi-shaped charm hook for even more personalization.

A 21" Carry-On Bounce suitcase is a standout piece in the collection, and shoppers can truly make it their own. The case comes in two shell colors -Primrose Pink and Cobalt Blue - and can be customized free of charge. Think cartoon characters, custom text, and the distinctive Tamagotchi font. Another fun addition is the Tamagotchi chase cards, a new player in CASETiFY's offerings.

Rounding out CASETiFY x Tamagotchi collection is the selection of phone cases, a fan favorite for a reason. Expect the same durable, hard shell phone cases, but elevated, to bring a '90s vibe with memorable characters and bright and bold colors.

Tamagotchi was first released in 1996 in Tokyo by Japanese toymaker Bandai. It quickly became a hit, with the toy expanding into the U.S. market in May 1997. The original Tamagotchi sold around 12 million units in North America, and a total of approximately 33 million units have been purchased since its inception.
