Alpha Nomos Combines Rhythm Combat and Roguelite Action in a Musical Adventure
Independent developer RibCage Games has released a new gameplay trailer for Alpha Nomos, offering its most detailed look yet at the upcoming rhythm-action roguelite ahead of Steam Next Fest. The new footage showcases updated combat systems, expanded power-up mechanics, and the unique music-driven design that sits at the center of the game. An updated demo is currently available on Steam, allowing players to experience the latest version before the game's planned Q3 2026 launch.
Alpha Nomos is built around a simple idea that influences nearly every part of the experience: music is not just part of the presentation, it is the foundation of the world itself. According to the developers, every attack, dodge, and upgrade is connected to rhythm. Players are encouraged to act on the beat, with successful timing increasing damage output, unlocking combos, and helping build a style meter during combat.
The game follows a character named Cello, a small puppet adventurer who awakens in a ruined world filled with corrupted puppets. Music has disappeared from this once vibrant land due to the influence of a mysterious force known as the Alpha Nomos. As Cello travels through the shattered world alongside her companions, she seeks answers about what caused the catastrophe and what role she may play in restoring the world's lost rhythm.
Music Shapes Every Run
As players progress through runs, they can unlock power-ups inspired by real-world audio effects such as Reverb, Flanger, and Delay. These upgrades do not simply alter statistics or damage values. Instead, they modify how attacks sound and behave, creating different musical textures and combat possibilities throughout each playthrough.
The developers describe every run as becoming its own composition. Because different combinations of upgrades affect both combat and audio output, players may experience a different soundtrack depending on the choices they make. This approach reflects RibCage Games' goal of making music an active mechanic rather than a background feature.
With its latest gameplay trailer now available and a refreshed demo arriving for Steam Next Fest, Alpha Nomos is giving players their clearest look yet at what RibCage Games has been building. By combining rhythm-based combat, instrument weapons, music-altering upgrades, and a world centered around the loss of sound itself, the game is aiming to deliver an experience where every battle contributes to a constantly evolving musical performance.
