Egg Nog Jog 5K/Speedway Christmas
6 p.m. Charlotte Motor Speedway, 5555 Concord Parkway South, Concord. $30 for the race; $30 and up per vehicle for Speedway Christmas only. www.charlottemotorspeedway.com.
Following the nighttime/non-timed fun run, runners will be treated to a fireworks display that will double as the official start of the all-new light show (which runners will get a sneak peek at, on foot). Guests not interested in running can drive through the course beginning at 7:30 p.m.

‘Jafar Panahi’s Taxi’

Noted Iranian filmmaker and dissident Jafar Panahi (“This Is Not a Film,” “Closed Curtain”) poses as a taxi driver in Tehran. He picks up and interviews a diverse group of passengers who give their views on the world in this slice-of-life portrait of Iranian society. Post-film discussion led by Charlotte Observer arts writer Lawrence Toppman.

Explore more than 100 human Plastinates that capture the body at every stage of the human life cycle – at its most healthy, as it changes, grows, matures and finally wanes. All tickets are for timed entry and are not included with regular museum admission. Runs through May 1.
