Vote to choose your drive-time art

If you’ve noticed local art on billboards around town, you’ve noticed the ArtPop program, and this year’s artists are about to be chosen – with your help.

A jury chose 25 artworks from about 130 submissions in the third annual contest, run by the Arts & Science Council and Adams Outdoor Advertising.

Its top 15 are already headed to billboards around town, but five more artists will also get their work blown up to visible-at-65-mph size – the top five vote-getters of 10 finalists online. (Those finalists were also chosen by the jury, a group of local arts and design experts.)

The 10 are Elyse Frederick, Jennifer Parham Gilomen, Micah Cash, Barbara Ellis, Veronica Maldonado, Brian Rumping, Susan Card, Stephanie Gainer, Karen Parker and Scott Partridge.

View those 10 online at charlotteobserver.com/entertainment and vote for your favorites Nov. 22-29 at charlottecultureguide.com. All 20 winners will be announced Nov. 30, with installations starting the first week of 2016 and rotating through the year.
