Christmas in Scotland

Jamie Laval, the national Scottish fiddle champion, weaves “a tapestry of music, dance, poetry, and stories that hearken back to the ancient Celtic celebrations associated with the Winter Solstice and Christmas.”

Children’s Theatre of Charlotte does stories and music celebrating the spirit and traditions of Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa. Written and directed by April Jones for ages 4-6.

‘The Hip-Hop Nutcracker’

A dozen dancers, DJ, MC and digital scenery bring the traditional story and Tchaikovsky’s music to life in a contemporary urban setting.

The seven-time Grammy winner will be the headline act at this year’s Belk Bowl FanFest. The festival itself begins at 10 a.m.; the actual game, between N.C. State and Mississippi State, starts at 3:30 p.m.

The Billy Jonas Concert Experience

John Tosco’s family-friendly New Year’s Eve show showcases Jonas, who mixes mixes traditional instruments with homemade ones (using buckets and barrels, keys and cans, bells and body percussion).
