New South for the New Southerner: NASCAR with Humpy Wheeler

Thursday, 5:30 p.m.: Howard Augustine “Humpy” Wheeler is one of NASCAR’s legendary promoters, and he’ll share stories from his long association with Charlotte Motor Speedway and give a feeling for Charlotte’s role in racing. Program includes wine and a Southern chicken dinner from Mert’s Heart and Soul. Admission $5 for members, $12 non-members. Upcycled Art

Thursday, 6 p.m.: A program for adults, seniors and teens, to create upcycled art such as decoupage bookends, tin can lanterns, paper jewelry and other activities that involve the reuse of materials that otherwise might go into the landfill.
Nature Coloring and Cocoa
McDowell Nature Preserve, 15222 York Road
