Get a glimpse of 'Magic Mike XXL' – and Myrtle Beach – in first trailer
Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello and other actors from the sequel to 2012’s “Magic Mike” were in Myrtle Beach in November to film scenes for the Warner Bros. film – and some of those scenes are featured prominently in the trailer.
Those who ventured out to downtown Myrtle Beach on Election Day will recognize the scene of the actors cruising down Ocean Boulevard in a drop-top Rolls Royce.
Aerial scenes of Myrtle Beach also were shot of the beach on Labor Day weekend and can be seen in the trailer.
Crews filmed scenes along Ocean Boulevard, the boardwalk around the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel, Plyler Park and in and around Boardwalk Resort.
“Magic Mike XXL” is about a road trip from Tampa to Myrtle Beach for a stripper convention.
Hundreds of local extras, many wearing American flag-patterned summer clothes to depict July Fourth, were cast to be in the film.
Tatum posted a movie poster on social media on Tuesday, teasing that there would be more to come on Wednesday, when the trailer was released.
The movie is the latest in a list of projects to be shot along the Grand Strand, including TLC’s “Trailer Park: Welcome to Myrtle Manor” – which returns for a third season on Feb. 26, CMT’s “Party Down South” and HBO’s “Eastbound and Down.”
“Magic Mike XXL” is expected to hit theaters July 1.
