‘Genghis Khan’: Not the guy you’re picturing
Say “Genghis Khan” and most people think warrior, conqueror and Mongolian Empire (if, that is, they know the name at all). But a new exhibition at Discovery Place promises a different look – one that considers the 13th-century guy as civilizer and innovator.
Think pants, paper money, forks, passports: All premises Khan introduced.
The exibition features six primary scenes – titled The Grasslands, Rise of the Mongols, The Walled City, The Silk Road, The Palace of Kublai Khan, and Mongolia Today – and was put together by Don Lessem (who’s also a dinosaur expert). Admission is included with regular museum admission, which is $17 for adults, $13 for kids 2-13, $15 for 60-and-older and free for kids younger than 2; discoveryplace.org.
