Country music superstar set to return to Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium in 2022

Kicking off April 23 in Tampa, Fla., at Raymond James Stadium, Kenny Chesney will play 21 stadium concerts, finishing “Here And Now 2022” with what has almost become a No Shoes Nation tradition: a double-play at New England’s Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., on Aug. 26 and 27.

When Kenny Chesney gets back on the road for the first time since the start of the pandemic to restart his tour, he’ll add two cities to the list that weren’t on it previously — and Charlotte is one of them.

The 53-year-old country music superstar announced Monday morning that he will bring his newly renamed “Here and Now 2022” tour to the city’s largest venue, Bank of America Stadium, on Saturday, April 30. Tickets to the Charlotte show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12. (Presale signup is here.)

Chesney also added a stop in Columbus, Ohio, to a tour that has increased from 19 stadium shows to 21. His tour is set to launch April 23 at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium.

“When we realized we weren’t getting to spend 2020 with No Shoes Nation,” Chesney said in a press release, dropping the nickname for his fan base, “I never thought it would be three years until I would see my most favorite people in the world.

“My favorite place in the world is anywhere we all come together,” he continued. “They come strong. They get loud. They love the music. But most importantly, they live life — every second — for all its worth! They inspire me, and I want to get out there and get going, creating the greatest night of the summer every time we hit the stage.”

Chesney hasn’t toured since May of 2019, when he wrapped up his “Songs for the Saints” tour at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La.

Other big tours coming to Charlotte

Monday’s announcement of the addition of a Charlotte tour stop for Chesney comes on the heels of the Rolling Stones’ show at BofA Stadium in September. That was the venue’s first concert since June 2012 — when Chesney co-headlined the “Brothers of the Sun” tour with Tim McGraw.

The uptown stadium now has five concerts on its growing schedule for 2022: Billy Joel on April 23; followed by Chesney one week later; then Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, Poison and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts on June 28; Red Hot Chili Peppers on Sept. 1; and Elton John on Sept. 18.

Opening acts for Chesney’s April 30 show will be Dan + Shay, Old Dominion and Carly Pearce.

American Express cardmembers can purchase tickets for the Charlotte date before the general public — beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday until 10 p.m. Thursday.
