‘Feeling way worse today’: Morgan Wallen reschedules Charlotte stadium shows for the fall

Two concerts country music star Morgan Wallen was scheduled to play at Bank of America Stadium — on back-to-back nights next Thursday and Friday — have been postponed.

“I hate to reschedule shows,” Wallen posted on X on Friday afternoon, “but I powered through being sick in Tampa last night, and unfortunately woke up feeling way worse today. I would not give you guys anywhere near 100% tonight and as a result, I need to move tonight’s Tampa show to Oct. 4 and next week’s Charlotte shows to Oct. 18 and 19.”

The announcement came just hours before his scheduled performance in Florida.

Wallen’s “One Night at a Time” tour has been one of the biggest concert draws of the summer so far; both concerts at the Carolina Panthers’ stadium in Charlotte were sold out. Earlier Friday, before the announcement of the postponements, “verified resale” tickets in sections close to the stage were selling for upwards of $1,700 apiece on Ticketmaster’s website.

A news release that followed his social media post said that fans should hold on to their tickets, as they will be honored at the rescheduled shows. Fans unable to attend the new dates, the release stated, can request a refund from the point of purchase.

The last time the 31-year-old singer played here was in June 2022, as headliner of a sold-out show for 20,000 people at PNC Music Pavilion. Since then, Wallen has won an American Music Award for Favorite Male Country Artist; been nominated for the Country Music Association Awards’ Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year honors two years in a row; and collected a slew of Billboard Music Awards.

His unspecified illness extends a sporadically tumultuous past few weeks for Wallen. During a concert in Denver, Colo., on June 27, Wallen was struck in the shoulder (but not injured) by a cellphone thrown at him by a fan. He also recently switched management companies.

At the same time, he’s been enjoying a summer that has included his immensely successful tour, as well as a collaboration with Post Malone that has become a huge hit: “I Had Some Help.”
