Metallica is returning to Charlotte in summer 2025 — to play on the city’s biggest stage
Metallica — the band responsible for rock anthems like “Enter Sandman,” “Nothing Else Matters” and “Master of Puppets” — is returning to Charlotte in the summer of 2025 to play on the city’s largest stage.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group led by James Hetfield announced on Thursday that its “M72 World Tour” will include a concert at Bank of America Stadium on Saturday, May 31.
Metallica’s “M72 World Tour” is in its third year, with Thursday’s announcement featuring a total of 21 new North American shows (primarily) at U.S. football stadiums spanning April, May and June of next year. The outdoor concert will play out a “massive in-the-round stage,” and fellow rockers Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies are scheduled to open the show.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27.
Fan club pre-sales begin four days earlier — at 10 a.m. Sept. 23 — although the Live Nation “show alert” issued Thursday morning provided a link to “pre-sales, enhanced experiences, travel packages and further information” for the 2025 Charlotte concert that wasn’t immediately working.
By the time frontman Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo take the stage here next summer, it will have been more than six years since they last performed in Charlotte.
