Here's how to catch Carrie Underwood's free concert in Charlotte
Seven-time Grammy winner Carrie Underwood, known in some circles as the reigning queen of country music, will be performing in a free concert Wednesday as part of the Belk Bowl's Fan Fest.
The former American Idol champion, whose repertoire includes songs like “Jesus, Take The Wheel,” “Before He Cheats” and “Good Girl,” is scheduled to perform at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, two hours before the bowl kicks off at 3:30 p.m.
The Fan Fest begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday outside Bank of America Stadium, at the corner of Mint Street and Stonewall Street in uptown Charlotte. Cheerleaders and marching bands will also be performing.
The Fan Fest event is free. Uptown traffic around Bank of America Stadium will be rerouted Tuesday and Wednesday to accommodate set up for the event, which is expected to draw 50,000 participants. Street closures will begin on Tuesday, December 29 at 9:30 a.m., to start set up for the festival. The streets will reopen Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 11 p.m.
The Belk Bowl festivities culminate with a 3:30 p.m. match up Wednesday between NC State vs. Mississippi State at the Bank of America Stadium.
