Academy Awards (8:30 p.m., ABC) – Host Neil Patrick Harris will guide the 87th Oscars show, which has scheduled performances by Common, John Legend, Lady Gaga, Adam Levine, Tim McGraw, Jennifer Hudson and others. The films “Birdman” and “Grand Budapest Hotel” lead all nominees with nine each, followed by “The Imitation Game,” which has eight.

Downton Abbey (9 p.m., UNC-TV) – Rose and Atticus’ happiness is threatened, and Mrs. Patmore receives a surprise.

The Walking Dead (9 p.m., AMC) – After a spectacular (and might we add, conveniently lethal) storm, Rick and the group meet a seemingly friendly – and shockingly clean – stranger.

10,000 Days (9 p.m., Syfy) – The timely tale of a family struggling to survive after a comet strike sends the Earth into a deep freeze.

Girls (9 p.m., HBO) – Hannah has an epiphany after doing some soul-searching, while Shoshanna has another terrible interview, but finds a reason to be optimistic.

Togetherness (9:30 p.m., HBO) – Brett meets a New Agey woman on his morning hike who encourages him to be more introspective, which leads to a revelation at work.
