What to Watch on Thursday: Lucious vs. Cookie in ‘Lip Sync Battle’
Lip Sync Battle (10 p.m., Spike) – This match-up, which ends the first season, is so great it needs two parts, which will air back-to-back tonight at 10 and 10:30: Lucious vs. Cookie. Actually, that’d be “Empire” stars Terrence Howard vs. Taraji P. Henson. And of course, one of the songs they lip-sync to is Three 6 Mafia’s Oscar-winning “Hard Out Here For a Pimp” from the movie “Hustle and Flow.” I had given the edge to Taraji, but after seeing Terrence do “Brick House,” I’m not so sure!
Also on tonight . . .
The Astronaut Wives Club (8 p.m., ABC) – In the season finale, the wives are interviewed for a documentary on the space program. Also, Gordy is skipped over for the next mission, and Betty finds a way to honor Gus’ legacy. No decision yet from ABC on a second season. Ratings have been fairly low – but steady – after an early drop, so it’s a true bubble show.
Évocateur: The Morton Downey Jr. Movie (9 p.m., CNN) – A documentary about the controversial late ’80s talk show host Morton Downey Jr., who turned civilized debate and discussion into aggressive and sometimes-violent confrontation.
Under the Dome (10 p.m., CBS) – Hunter receives files that reveal disturbing details about the infected townspeople.
Graceland (10 p.m., USA) – Mike questions Briggs’ actual motivations in the Sarkissian case.
Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll (10 p.m., FX) – Gigi asks Johnny to get a tattoo of her name as a sign of fatherly commitment.
