What to Watch on Monday: New shows usher in fall season

Gotham (8 p.m., Fox) – In the Season 2 opener, Det. James Gordon asks the Penguin for help against his better judgement.

Big Bang Theory (8 p.m., CBS) – Sheldon struggles to understand what’s going on with Amy in the Season 9 premiere.

The Voice (8 p.m., NBC) – Blind auditions open the ninth season. Judges this time are Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams.

Life in Pieces (8:30 p.m., CBS) – A funny new sitcom with a strong cast – Colin Hanks, James Brolin, Dianne Wiest, just to name a few – that centers around one family. It’s not “Modern Family.” Read more about “Life in Pieces.”

Minority Report (9 p.m., Fox) – Based on the film, this series follows a detective who teams up with a precognitive who uses his abilities to see the future. Read our full review of “Minority Report.”

Scorpion (9 p.m., CBS) – Season 2 opens with a nuclear powered Russian satellite knocked out of orbit and the Director of Homeland Security reuniting the team.

Blindspot (10 p.m., NBC) – The FBI gets involved when a woman with amnesia shows up in the middle of Times Square, naked and covered in intricate tattoos. The tattoos are clues to a large criminal conspiracy. The pilot is decent. More here about “Blindspot.”

Castle (10 p.m., ABC) – In the Season 8 opener, the story is told from Castle’s perspective as he hunts for Beckett.

NCIS: Los Angeles (10 p.m., CBS) – The seventh season has Hetty shutting down Callen’s secret operation, and the team relocating Callen before he gets in trouble.
