What to Watch on Wednesday: ‘Empire’ is back, ‘Rosewood’ is new

The Middle (8 p.m., ABC) – Sue’s excitement about college lesses when a mishap forces her to cut her hair in the Season 7 premiere.
The Goldbergs (8:30 p.m., ABC) – Lainey, Erica and Barry plan a big party when Lainey’s father is out of town.
Modern Family (9 p.m., ABC) – In the seventh season opener, Cam wants Mitch to return to his former job when money gets tight.
Law & Order: SVU (9 p.m., NBC) – Two new episodes open the new season. Det. Rollins hopes to elicit a confession from a serial killer when a body washes up on a beach where he buried victims, but the information they get from him sends shock waves through the department.
