What to Watch on Monday: A non-cliffhanger resolved in ‘Castle’ opener

Castle (10pm, ABC) - It’s not really a cliffhanger if you’re waiting to see if the person the show is named after lives or dies, but even so … In the seventh season premiere, Beckett embarks on her hardest case as she waits at the scene of Castle’s accident and learns details about the car crash.

Also on tonight . . .

Gotham (8pm, Fox) - A child-trafficking ring is investigated, and one of the victims is Selina Kyle. Elsewhere, Penguin blazes a bloodily trail back to Gotham.

Mom (8:30pm, CBS) - Season 2 (featuring Emmy-winner Allison Janney, by the way) opens with Bonnie fuming when Christy’s financial decisions jeopardize the family’s living situation. Also, Christy sets out to help a newly sober woman, played by Jaime Pressly.

The 50-Year Argument (9pm, HBO) - This documentary, directed by Martin Scorsese and David Tedeschi, looks at the New York Times Review of Books and features remarks by editor Robert Silvers, who cofounded the influential publication with Barbara Epstein in 1963. Also included: interviews with and archival footage of contributors through the years, including Gore Vidal, James Baldwin and Joan Didion.

NCIS: Los Angeles (10pm, CBS) - Season 6 begins with Callen and Sam becoming trapped in an armed submarine that terrorists aim at an aircraft carrier in San Diego.

The Blacklist (10pm, NBC) - Red aims to take down a corrupt bank after it’s robbed, but Liz questions his intentions. Meanwhile, a new member joins Cooper’s task force after impressing team members.
