Emmy Awards 2026 Nominations: 1st Categories Revealed
The countdown to the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards has begun following the official nominations announcement.
The first two honorees were announced on the Today show before Liza Colón-Zayas and Jeff Hiller unveiled the complete list of nominees live from the Wolf Theatre at the Television Academy's Saban Media Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday, July 8.
"This year's submissions reflect the undiminished creative range and vitality of our medium, celebrating both emerging talent and beloved creative voices who are shaping the future of the industry," Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego said in a June press release. "We are thrilled to acknowledge these artists and storytellers whose work matters so deeply to audiences around the world."
One day before the 2026 Emmy nominations were announced, news broke that Mariska Hargitay will host the ceremony set to take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday, September 14. The broadcast will air live coast-to-coast at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
