I’ll be the first to admit that I am not the world’s most organized person. As a 30-something woman, I am the proud owner of way too many shoes, the majority of which I’ve historically thrown haphazardly into a pile in my closet. But when that aforementioned pile eventually started spilling out onto my bedroom floor, I knew something needed to change.
So, I hopped on Amazon and typed in “shoe storage,” and one of the first things that popped up for me was this Amazon Basics Hanging Shoe Organizer. At $12, I figured it couldn’t hurt to try it out — and I haven’t regretted it since.
Amazon Basics Hanging Shoe Organizer, $11.99

Measuring roughly 67 inches tall and 19 inches wide, this hanging shoe organizer fits on practically any door. It’s made of sturdy, canvassy polyester material with 24 mesh pockets. And it couldn’t be easier to install: You literally just loop the three included metal hooks through the reinforced holes at the top of the organizer and hang them right on top of your door. No hammer and nails or gunky adhesive patches required.
I’ll note that this organizer is not ideal for boots and other bulky footwear. Due to the narrow width of the pockets, I primarily use mine for tennis shoes, sandals and heels, and I can usually only fit one shoe per pocket. However, for shoes like flip-flops or ballet flats, I can squeeze both shoes into one pocket to save space. At this very moment, I have a total of 15 pairs of shoes in my organizer, with about half of them being tennis shoes. And since that’s 15 whole pairs that are removed from my floor, I call that a success!
To top it all off, this thing has nearly 23,000 five-star ratings on Amazon, so it’s clear that it’s a big hit. “Better than my $200 shoe cabinet,” says one reviewer. “10/10, extremely happy, and going to purchase more for other areas of the house to store items like office and craft supplies.”
So, if you’re tired of stumbling over shoes every time you walk through your room, take a tip from me (and thousands of other folks) and invest in this $12 organizer. The juice is certainly worth the squeeze!
