Death of infant at uptown shelter investigated
The death of an infant at a homeless shelter near uptown is under investigation, according to WBTV.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were called to the Salvation Army’s Center of Hope Shelter for Women and Children on Spratt Street about 3:12 a.m. Monday, where they found an infant who wasn’t breathing. The baby girl was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Early statements by police indicate that foul play is not suspected. The cause of death is being investigated by the Medical Examiner’s office.
