Driver seriously injured after crashing into tree near uptown Charlotte
A driver was seriously injured after striking a tree near uptown Charlotte Tuesday morning.
The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on the outbound ramp of Interstate 277 to East Independence Boulevard. According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, a driver ran off the roadway and struck a tree.
Police say the driver was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Main with life-threatening injuries.
No lanes were blocked during the incident.
There's no word on what caused the crash.
