Summer break is officially over, and school is back in session. While our youngest Charlotteans are learning math, history, and English, they are also most likely getting involved in after-school activities. Sports, various clubs and enrichment programs seem to be part of the academic life these days, which means families are busier than ever.

Whether one or both parents work outside the home, add in the obligations of their children, and families in the QC are spread thin! While families seem to be busier now that the school year has started, that doesn’t mean that mealtime has to suffer.

Our friends at DoorDash are a click away from helping busy families on the go have a delicious meal waiting on them when they get home. With DoorDash (via the Android or iOS app or online at www.doordash.com) Charlotteans can order from more than 300 restaurants in the area. In under an hour, families will have their favorite restaurant dishes delivered to their door.

DoorDash has created a “Top 5” list of meal ideas for Charlotte families.

  1. Keep it green: We all need our veggies and sometimes we are too busy to get to the store. That’s where CHOPT comes in. Use the DoorDash app to order salads for your family, there are kid’s meal options, too. You can even order Kombucha to drink or KIND bars for snacks that day, or order extra for the rest of the week.
  1. Go all out: Life is all about balance, and maybe you want to just indulge with your family. Red Robin has a kid’s menu that includes corn dogs and pasta dishes. Don’t forget their burgers! Finish off the meal with a Mountain High Mud Pie for dessert.
  1. Pizza night: It’s been a long week, and you and your family just want to watch a movie and have a relaxed Friday night. Pizza and a movie sounds like a winning combination. Uncle Maddio’s Pizza focuses on fresh ingredients and allows you to customize your pizza, which is great if family members have dietary restrictions (gluten free is an option). Make your pizza from their three different dough options and six different sauces.
  1. Family meals: What if you can give your family a home cooked meal, but you don’t have to make it in your home? The South Charlotte Chef makes family style meals from scratch daily, so you know you’re only getting the best of the best for your family. Family style meals such as lasagna, chicken parmesan, or cavatelli with broccoli and grilled chicken are available.
  1. Make it sweet: This option may not be a meal per se, but sometimes you just want a sweet treat. Whether the kids made an “A” the first test, scored a goal, had a bad day, or you just want to celebrate life, a popsicle from King of Pops will make everyone happy. Get your favorite flavor delivered right to your door – Chocolate Sea Salt and Strawberry Lemonade are two of ours.

Whether running from or to work, school or practice, DoorDash has you covered for all your family meal needs. Don’t forget to check out the DoorDash site and app as new restaurants and areas of Charlotte are being added to better serve customers and families. Have a great school year, and remember, you got this!
