Kids without beds? Tempur-Pedic helps make that a thing of the past [Partner]

For most of us, we have a hard time imagining life without a bed. Unfortunately this is an issue facing our own Charlotte community. Beds For Kids, a Charlotte-based charity, hopes to aid families in need by providing beds and other household furniture and home essentials at no cost. Beds For Kids refurbishes and repurposes new and gently used beds and essential furniture items that have been donated from individuals, institutions and corporations. Daniel Fogarty, executive director of Beds For Kids, said sometimes they even create their own furniture, which can be seen in their offices.

Because of Tempur-Pedic, Beds For Kids has a truckload of mattresses to give to families. In celebration of the brand’s new flagship store at SouthPark Mall, Tempur-Pedic donated more than 100 mattresses to the local charity in line with its mission to deliver life-changing sleep across America.

“What’s incredible about this is every night over 17,000 kids in our city alone go to sleep on the floor or without a bed they call their own,” said Fogarty. “So through this generous donation, we’re able to continue to knock down on that number.”

Last Friday, Tempur-Pedic delivered a mixture of twin, full and queen size beds to fit the needs of the Beds For Kids patrons. Fogarty and Sharon Sullivan, director of store operations at Tempur-Pedic, were both present for the delivery event.

“We’re very excited to be donating over 100 mattresses to Beds For Kids, a charity that is near and dear to us because we love providing a great night’s sleep, especially to children,” said Sullivan.

Fogarty estimated that through the partnership with Tempur-Pedic, Beds For Kids has been able to donate around 1,000 beds to children in need in the Charlotte area.
