Celebrate second chances at the 7th Annual Evening of Hope & Inspiration [Partner]

Different Roads Home will celebrate second chances at the 7th Annual Evening of Hope & Inspiration on Saturday, November 12 starting at 7:30 p.m. Former Real Housewives of New Jersey star turned author Teresa Guidice will speak about her life and the importance of supporting this nonprofit, which helps people with chronic illnesses.

The reality TV star will also talk about how she came through the other side of her prison stay in 2015. She exclusively told ABC News that while prison was a horrible experience, she gained insights into herself.

“Maybe I needed that time for myself to reflect and…just to become, you know, a better person and grow and just to be a better mother, better wife, better daughter, better human being through all this,” she said.

Giudice, who’s also known for her three New York Times bestselling cookbooks, wrote a tell-all memoir about her experience behind bars titled Turning the Tables: From Housewife to Inmate and Back Again. In the book, she talks about growing up Italian-American, her time on Housewives and how she stayed positive behind bars.

Country superstar Louise Mandrell, who will be honored with the Humanitarian of the Year Award for her lifetime of charity work, is also no stranger to second chances and illness. Her husband John Haywood was diagnosed with Morgellon’s disease, so she sold her theater in Pigeon Forge in 2006 to take care of him. In 2009, she joined the Morgellons Research Foundation Board.
