Remember our planned journey through the lands of 5000 years of Chinese civilization? Let’s start in a most secret, sacred place. You are now hiking in the Himalayas, and you stumble upon a hidden land between two of the highest Himalayan peaks: Mêdog, also known as Pemako. With the river Brahmaputra to its south, its borders land in both of today’s China and India. In Tibetan language, Mêdog literally means “the hidden lotus.” You’ll see breathtaking, rolling green hills filled with countless nameless plants, as well as wild antelope and gray langurs passing by right in front of you.
