A man died while scuba diving at Lake Norman Quarry off Greenbay Road and N.C. 150 in Mooresville Wednesday morning, Iredell County sheriff’s Detective Nathan Speaks said.
The man was doing some recreational scuba diving, Speaks said. Other people also were in the water when he died about 11:45 a.m., the detective said.
The private quarry, owned by the non-profit Piedmont Diving and Rescue organization, has been a popular scuba diving spot for years.
Speaks said an autopsy will determine the cause of death, whether from a medical condition or other reason.
