Hurricanes’ Jack Drury makes flight home with team, status for Game 5 still uncertain
Rod Brind’Amour had no update on Jack Drury, who needed to be helped off the ice after being checked face-first into the boards from behind by Ryan Pulock, but Drury walked out of UBS Arena with the team after the game, dressed for the charter flight.
The Hurricanes ended up with a two-man advantage after Pulock was penalized for boarding — initially called a major, but reduced to a minor upon review — and converted for the opening goal.
”Jacko took a heavy hit there and you never want to see that happen, but to be able to capitalize,” Seth Jarvis said. “That was huge for us. I mean, five-on-three, you have to score. You don’t get many of those. ...
“You don’t want to see a guy get hurt, especially Jack who’s worked so hard to get where he is,” Jarvis added. “So you feel for the guy but you got to make them pay on the power play and that’s what they did.”
Split decision
Antti Raanta ripped a hole in his goalie pants sliding to his left to make one of his nine second-period saves, and the red fabric kept flapping in the breeze for the rest of the game. Raanta wasn’t even aware he’d split his pants until a reporter told him as he stood at his locker after the game.
“I don’t have eyes in the back of my head yet,” Raanta said. “Nobody’s talking to me during the game.”
