Anne Belk dies after cancer battle
Anne Reynolds Belk, whose name is on a theater at UNC Charlotte, died Saturday after a battle with cancer.
Belk, a retired accountant, once served as vice president of finance and treasurer of the Junior League of Charlotte. She also served on the board of directors for Charlotte Latin School.
Anne Belk is survived by her husband, Carl, and their two children, David and Patricia. Survivors also include her mother, Patricia Sharpe.
Carl Belk is the son of Irwin “Ike” Belk, a longtime supporter of UNCC. Irwin Belk made a gift to the university in honor of his daughter-in-law. The 325-seat Anne R. Belk Theatre is in the Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts.

Funeral services are set for 3 p.m. Tuesday at Church at Charlotte, 2500 Carmel Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church at Charlotte, 2500 Carmel Road; Charlotte, N.C. 28226, or Charlotte Latin School, 9502 Providence Road; Charlotte, N.C. 28227.
