More on the Avett Brothers (watch them, too)
The Avett Brothers are a phenom-in-progress. Formed in an empty parking lot in 2001 and offering a hard-to-define roots-rock/punkish-yet-melodic sort of vibe, the group nourished a passionate following in small venues with rough-and-rowdy live shows. Tonight, they're slated to play in Paris, part of an international tour supporting their first major-label record, "I and Love and You," which made multiple top-10 lists for 2009.
They've been everywhere in recent months. A sampling:
