Tips to you traveling fashionistas
The May 2011 issue of UCity is out in print. I am in print! When I was asked to do the Fuss Free packing article, I was super-psyched!
Visiting boutiques and stores to coordinate outfits for models. Writing about what to pack and how to pack it. Envisioning each vacation. My first ‘official’ article! I had a lot of fun and was overloaded with information and products. So much that I could not possibly fit everything into the article.
Here are a few more things I want to share in conjunction with ‘The Traveling Fashionista’ piece. (Read it here, then come back to my blog.)
REI is a great resource for travel footwear (stylish yet functional and comfortable pieces). However, since the submission of the article, I discovered the new Crocs. I am in LOVE!!Available for all members of the family with a million fashionable styles, Crocs are finally (in my opinion) worth wearing. I can’t possibly tell you about all of my favorites but I will share about the Adrina Flat (which I own): The cutest most comfortable and untraditional jelly in the world!! Check out the lightweight and odor-resistant Crocs Spring/Summer 2011 collection here. Then head to a kiosk at Northlake Mall or places like Dick's Sporting Goods, Sports Authority, even Macy’s to get your favorite pairs!
Something I did not really consider when choosing ensembles for photos -- pajamas. Well, I have considered after being turned on to Cool-jams. The wicking sleepwear is lightweight, wrinkle resistant, dries three times faster than cotton pajamas, and has the ability to regulate body temperature. Need I say more? There are currently no local retailers that carry Cool-jams but check out cool-jams.com to choose from many styles, sizes and colors.
Clothing and packing accessories have been well covered but what about preparing your body to look good in your travel wardrobe? My top pick? Glo Glam Mobile Spray Tan (this local business can be found on Facebook here.) Book a spray tan session that works conveniently with your busy schedule and is healthy for your skin! For additional information and special promotions, call 704.819.4571 or email Rebecca at rmyounce@gmail.com
Last but not least, Joan Zimmerman, CEO of Southern Shows, has traveled the world and has fuss-free packing down to an art! She was so kind to share some of her expertise and ideas with me.....I will pass a couple on to you.
“The goal is one carry-on suitcase, no ironing in your room and feeling good about how you look. You’ll get a pattern of needs, and recognize there are lots of occasions where you can wear the same outfits-nobody notices, and if they do, they don’t care.”
“If the bag is not tight when you’ve folded and packed (your planned items) don’t be tempted to add more (clothes).” The additional space should be saved for purchases and souvenirs. For those of you headed out of town this summer, happy vacationing! And if you need help planning or packing, shoot me an e-mail. I will be happy to help!!foodnfashion.examiner@yahoo.com
