A luxury six-bed property that housed Royal Family members including the Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret is on sale for $11.5 million

The property Penolva is believed to have been visited by the Queen Mother and other royalty during their regular Royal Yacht Britannia voyages.

In its early days, royalty would come ashore from the yacht via Penolva's private slipway.

Frequented by the monarch, it has also hosted other prominent members of the Royal Family over the decades, including Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret.

Princess Diana is also said to have stayed in St Mawes, while King Charles III and Queen Camilla frequently visited as Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, staying at the nearby Hotel Tresanton.

The house is located in the picturesque waterside village of St Mawes in Cornwall and offers a breathtaking panoramic view over Falmouth Bay.

The property on the market with H Tiddy was built in the early 1960s by its original owner, Dick Wilkins, who was a close friend of the Queen Mother herself.

Royal aficionados now have a unique opportunity to live in their footsteps by purchasing this luxurious waterfront residence.

The property underwent a modern transformation a few years ago, conservatively bringing it up to current standards while preserving its original charm and feel.

Penolva offers six bedrooms, six bathrooms and three reception rooms, all overlooking the Cornish coast.

Contained within 3,659 sq. ft, the house also features 0.34 acres of private waterside gardens.

The beautifully landscaped gardens include Mediterranean-style planting, tiered terraces, and even direct access to the foreshore and water via a private stone stairway.

A second private home, Little Penolva, is nestled within the estate with all the comforts of home, two additional bedrooms and bathrooms.

Little Penolva includes Bedroom One with an en-suite shower room and Juliette balcony offering water views, and Bedroom Two with an en-suite shower room.

For those looking for historical features, the house also includes an entrance hall with a sweeping staircase, a dining room with French doors leading to sun/dining terraces, a reading room, and a fireplace with a wood-burning inset, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere.

Alfresco entertainment lovers will appreciate the wide landscaped sun terrace that extends the width of the gardens, a stunning feature sure to hold several memorable summer parties.

When staying in St Mawes, the Queen Mother would often visit Falmouth.

The royal has visited the town several times in the 60, 70s and 80s, and is said to have attended services at King Charles Church on Church Street, Falmouth.
