Caitlin Clark Announces Major Nike Shoe Release News

Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Clark is one of Nike's most popular signature athletes.

On Wednesday, fans will get the opportunity to buy one of Clark's player edition sneakers first debuted by the WNBA All-Star in May 2025: the Kobe 5 Protro x Caitlin Clark "Rookie of the Year."

The shoes, which feature a Metallic Silver base and University Red accents, are inspired by Clark's record-breaking Rookie of the Year season in 2024.

Clark announced the drop with a social media post on Tuesday.

"One of my favorite PEs from last year are launching tomorrow on SNKRS!" Clark wrote on her Instagram story.

The drop will begin at 9 a.m. ET on Wednesday.

"Caitlin Clark presents another Kobe 5 Protro player edition-this colorway first seen on-court in May of 2025. Recognizing her award-winning professional rookie season, a Metallic Silver upper gets paired with pops of University Red, and polished off with a high-gloss finish that glistens under the spotlight," Nike writes on its website.

"This Protro model takes a great basketball shoe and makes it better. It's fitted with a flexible Air Zoom unit and scaled-down traction for optimal court feel. Plus, the minimally structured upper is lightweight and supportive all around."

Clark signed a historic eight-year, $28 million deal with Nike before her rookie season in 2024. She was announced as a signature athlete last summer, meaning she'll eventually have her own signature sneaker.

While there's no set release date, Clark's first signature shoe is scheduled to debut sometime during the 2026 WNBA season.
