Victor Glover Returns From the Moon and Delivers Unexpected Message to His Neighbors

Victor Glover just spent 10 days traveling around the Moon and back during the Artemis II mission. When he got home, his neighbors were waiting for him, and like the gem of a human he keeps proving to be, he had something to say to them.

The Artemis II pilot returned to a full neighborhood celebration, with residents lining the streets to welcome him back after one of the most historic missions in modern spaceflight. Videos and photos from the celebration show the warmth of the moment.

Victor Glover's Neighbors Welcoming Him Home After Artemis II Mission

What Glover did with the moment is what made it truly memorable. Rather than simply accepting the celebration, he turned it back on his neighbors, and delivered a message that had nothing to do with space.

"Some of us have never met before," Glover told the crowd. "And you know whose fault that is, ours."

He paused before continuing.

"So let's choose to do this. Let's be this more. Let's be neighbors."

Glover, a man of faith, grounded the message in something deeper. "I don't know if you heard me say it, but God told us to love him with all that we are and love our neighbors as ourselves," he said.

Glover was one of four astronauts aboard NASA's Artemis II mission, which splashed down Friday at 8:07 p.m. ET in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego after a 10-day journey around the Moon. At the crew's reunion Saturday at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Glover delivered another emotional message - thanking God publicly and extending his love not just to his family but to everyone in the room.
