Foster Pit Bull Finds Out He's Being Adopted-Then Comes the Real Surprise
When a foster Pit Bull adoption story ends with a dog going to their forever home, it's such a wonderful thing.
Though there's always a bit of sadness when a rescue dog leaves a wonderful foster home where they were loved by their temporary family.
It's a bittersweet part of the foster dog journey.
But in this new viral video from @we.three.pitties, our favorite foster Pit Bull puppy, named Piglet, gets an even bigger and better surprise than just a typical foster dog adoption story.
@we.three.pitties Happy tails to Piglet Turns out, Piglet has always been home . That's right - Pig is staying forever . Who saw this coming ? #fosterdog#fosterpuppy#fosteringsaveslives#happytails#pitbullpuppy
You and Me - Instrumental Version - Eldar Kedem
His parents really fooled us for a bit, as they weren't giving away the big reveal that they are Piglet's new forever home.
They even had some other videos about him preparing for his adoption.
They just showed him, solo, at his going-away party, eating his cake, but then, finally, at the very end, Piglet's foster family adoption turned into the happiest ending possible when they revealed they were keeping him!
This is the type of emotional dog-adoption moment that shows why rescue dog stories resonate so strongly.
Facts About Foster-to-Adopt Cases for Dogs
According to the ASPCA program, Shelter Animals Count, 4.2 million shelter animals were adopted into homes in 2024, which matches the previous year.
This site also found that for "foster-to-adopt" cases, most achieve a 75% adoption rate compared to 56% for traditional shelters.
Shelter Animals Count also found that nearly 70% of organizations that use foster care report higher adoption rates (up to 68%) than those without foster care (around 50%).
A 2023 study by Virginia Tech and Arizona State University also found that dogs are 14 times more likely to be adopted after spending time in a foster home.

Case in point with little Piglet, except he's not so little anymore.
We saw this sweet boy grow from a wild, tiny puppy who loved to sleep on heating vents and bury himself in blankets (and occasionally have accidents in the house) to a sweet dog.
Piglet even has a girlfriend! We can't wait to see all his new adventures.
Piglet's family has been fostering dogs for 10 years and works with the Hope Animal Rescue.
