The cat's mom tried to stop him and opened the back door to let the raccoon out, but the cat still chased him all the way outside.

People flooded the comments, surprised by the cat's bold actions against the raccoon, and also praised the quick defense of his home.

"I got to get me an orange cat," one person wrote in the comments, while another said, "I wasn't expecting the cat to jump through the window ."

"The cat was like 'oh no no no no we're not getting a raccoon,' " another person joked. Another user added that his actions were just the "Orange cat paying rent ."

What to Do If an Animal Breaks Into Your Home

Even if you do everything to prevent a wild animal from coming inside, sometimes they may find their way into your home.

According to Varment Guard Wildlife Services, one of the most important things you can do if you encounter a wild animal is to remain calm. It's important to talk in a low voice and slow moments so the animal is also calm and not frightened.

The organization also recommends not trying to get the animal out of your house, because that can "make it defensive and therefore dangerous." Instead, it's imperative to keep your distance and call your local animal services department for help with wildlife removal.

When it comes to Raccoons specifically, the Los Angeles Animal Services reveals that "Raccoon attacks on domestic pets are rare, and in most cases, it is usually our pet dogs and cats initiating attacks, which often leads to injury for both."

"If you come across a raccoon that doesn't turn tail and run after frightening it, or if the raccoon is out in the middle of the day, the animal may be sick, injured, may be protecting young, or conditioned to the presence of humans through feeding," the Animal Services added. "If you are unsure of how to handle a wildlife conflict, contact your local Humane or

Animal Services agency."
