First Look at Record-Breaking Trump Tower Being Built in Tbilisi, Georgia
A first look at the upcoming Trump Tower Tbilisi, to be built in the capital of Georgia, has been revealed, along with new details on the wider $2-billion Tbilisi Downtown development.
A rendering of the development, which was shared with Newsweek on Tuesday, shows the tower at its center bearing the name "Trump" across the top in gold lettering, soaring above sprawling patches of tree against a mountain backdrop.
The project is the latest addition to the Trump Organization's global expansion amid concerns around potential conflicts of interest involving President Donald Trump's family business and ongoing United States trade negotiations with foreign countries.
According to a report updated in March by the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), a nonprofit watchdog, the Trump Organization was reported to be "planning, building and opening" at least 24 Trump-branded projects across the globe during the president’s second term in office.
Asked how Trump addresses concerns that ongoing Trump Organization developments abroad could create conflicts between U.S. foreign policy decisions and the president's personal business interests, White House deputy press secretary Anna Kelly told Newsweek: "This is the same, tired narrative that Democrats have pushed against President Trump, his family, and his administration for a decade."
Kelly continued: "President Trump only acts in the best interests of the American public-which is why they overwhelmingly reelected him to this office, despite years of lies and false accusations against him and his businesses from the fake news media. There are no conflicts of interest."
A spokesperson for the Trump Organization told Newsweek that the organization “operates completely separate from the presidency and is in full compliance with all ethics and conflict-of-interest laws.”
They noted that “the organization has not only implemented a comprehensive set of internal ethical standards, but also appointed an independent outside ethics adviser to ensure continued transparency, uphold the highest level standards and avoid even the appearance of impropriety."
The organization hired an ethics adviser last year, William Burck, who was later fired over his legal involvement with Harvard University in a case against the president.
Trump Tower To Be the Tallest Building in Georgia
Designed by Gensler, which is described as "the world's largest architecture firm" in an earlier statement from the developers behind the latest project, Trump Tower Tbilisi is expected to reach around 70 stories, becoming the tallest building in Georgia.
The Tbilisi Downtown development consists of six towers, with Trump Tower Tbilisi forming its centerpiece. Spanning around 600,000 square meters (around 6.4 million square feet) in the heart of the Georgian capital, the development will offer panoramic views over Central Park.
The mixed-use development will feature a business center, luxury retail, a branded luxury hotel, as well as dining and entertainment offerings. Total investment in the project is estimated to be around $2 billion, the developer team said in a statement shared with Newsweek.
The project aims to underscore the Georgian capital's emergence as a key business hub and gateway to international business in Eastern Europe and Asia, as well as its growing profile among global luxury property buyers, according to the developer team.
Other Trump-Branded Projects Underway
The Trump Organization owns and operates dozens of properties across the globe, including in North America, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, and Asia.
The company has various Trump-branded projects that have been proposed or are under construction, with a series of new developments announced across the Middle East and Asia.
In December 2024, the company unveiled plans for Trump Tower Jeddah on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia. The following March, it announced Trump World Center Pune in India, a development featuring two glass towers alongside a retail boulevard.
Further projects were outlined in April, including the proposed Trump International Hotel and Tower Dubai-set to be the company's first project in the Middle East-as well as a $5.5-billion resort development in Simaisma, north of Doha, Qatar.
In May last year, the organization also said it had "officially broken ground" on Trump International Hung Yen, described as its first Trump-branded golf and residential development in Vietnam.
