Knicks' Josh Hart Reveals His Wild Pre-Game Routine
Josh Hart is known for his hustle and tenacious effort on the basketball court. Despite being 6'4", he is one of the best rebounders in the league, and is able to match up defensively against larger wings.
He is also known for his eccentric personality; whether it's swiping a few M&Ms from a fan in the front row, or constantly messing with Jalen Brunson in postgame interviews. He's a high energy guy to say the least.
Now, we know the reason why. In a GQ interview, Hart revealed that he consumes upwards of 500mg of caffeine before each game. This comes from a combination of coffee and C4 pre-workout.
While that may sound crazy, the rest of his game day routine is quite tame. Breakfast is usually an omelette with fruit and oatmeal, a mediterranean dish for lunch, and of course his beloved Mike & Ikes before the game.
But it wasn't always this way. Hart admittedly did not focus on his nutrition in his first few years in the league. It wasn't until he was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans that he hired a chef and put a greater emphasis on his diet.
Hart also has an interesting take on wearable health technology. Analytics are huge in the NBA, both on and off the court. He used to use things like WHOOP and Oura but felt it was affecting his mindset. He would wake up feeling great but the tech would say otherwise, for example that he was not properly recovered.
He's right in that these things can create a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy. If you wake up and your watch has you in the red, then that may lead you to have a bad day. But if you woke up without that data, you'd probably be totally fine.
Josh Hart has carved out a unique niche in his NBA career. As the saying goes, he's the type of player that can fit in with any team. His defense, rebounding, and underrated ball handling make him an asset to any organization. Knicks fans have grown to love Hart, astutely calling him the heart of the team. At 31, he's in the prime of his career, and would love nothing more than to deliver a championship to the city that never sleeps.
