Woman's Entire Vintage Dishware Collection Shatters, but She Comes Up With a Brilliant Way to Reuse It
One of the few things that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy would be shattering my entire vintage dishware collection. Is that a bit dramatic? Perchance. Still, for any hardcore collector, losing a whole collection of high-value vintage dishes is an absolute nightmare.
That's exactly what happened to one woman on TikTok, and my heart immediately shattered just like her dishes. However, what she did afterward with the dish shards quickly mended my broken heart and left me very impressed.

TikTok DIYer @brook.ballard fully embodies the word "resourcefulness" with her simple hack to save her dishware shards. Instead of just throwing them away (like I probably would), she revives them and puts them to excellent use.
She expertly arranges the broken pieces in different areas of her kitchen wall and uses them as tiles. Brook has been taking her time carefully crafting her new backsplash. Though it's still a work in progress, it has been quite fulfilling for Brook.
"I've never done a project like this, so it's been fun to learn! Certainly not perfect but I'm excited for the kitchen to be done," says Brook in her caption.
Never done a project like this before? She certainly could've fooled us!
Her Kitchen Now Looks Like It Belongs in a Museum
Kitchen upgrades aren't usually easy or cheap, but Brook effortlessly makes hers look like a work of art. Her kitchen wall ends up looking like a royal museum thanks to her DIY mosaic backsplash.
She still has a good portion of her kitchen wall left to add pieces to, and she even has a separate box for bigger, clunkier shards that just wouldn't fit. This type of project takes a lot of time, patience, and an artist's intuition, but with the right mindset, anyone could replicate it in their own kitchen.

One commenter couldn't help but chime in with, "You just made a beautiful work of art out of something awful…I would have cried for months and thrown it all out."
If that doesn't accurately describe how I'd feel in that scenario, then I'm not sure what would. What I do know is that if you've got some broken dishes, you should watch Brook's video before you throw it all away.
