Tom Holland Battles Hulk In New ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Trailer
The Hulk is ready to smash in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
While previous looks at the film revealed Mark Ruffalo would appear as Bruce Banner, a new trailer out June 17 confirms he'll also transform into his big, green, and very angry alter ego.
Starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, the movie also sees the franchise returns of Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Michael Mando as Scorpion, as well as the addition of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher.
Sadie Sink, meanwhile, has been cast in a mystery villain role.
Breaking Down the New Trailer
"What is happening to me?" Holland's superhero asks himself in the new footage, as he begins to lose control of his powers. "I'm losing my mind," he adds, as he's seen facing off against Mando's Scorpion, a villain first teased in Holland's first Spidey movie, "Homecoming."
As he grapples with his new transformation, Peter seemingly turns to Banner for help. However, Bruce-and everyone else in the MCU-no longer knows that Peter is Spider-Man, following the mind-bending antics of "No Way Home."
Later in the trailer, Bruce appears to lose control himself, and attacks Peter in full Hulk mode.
Why? Well, that might be due to the movie's mysterious villain, played by Sadie Sink. "It appears we're facing a threat we can't control, one we can't even see," Tramell Tillman's character tells Peter in the footage, as a being-or mutant?-who can control others with their mind is teased.
Peter, says Tillman, is the only one immune to their powers. Internet rumors have suggested Sink is playing future X-Men figure Jean Grey, though nobody from Marvel has confirmed her role.
The movie will also see Peter attempt to reconnect with MJ (Zendaya) and BFF Ned (Batalon), after they too had their memories of him erased, and ask The Punisher for added assistance.
"It's a BRAND NEW DAY for Peter Parker," reads the official synopsis. "Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn't remember him-and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him-sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control."
"But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves - a powerful villain no one can even see," it continues. "The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn't forgotten them."
The footage also sees the cinematic debut of the Spidey Tracker, which Ned uses to track Spider-Man's whereabouts. Powered by Samsung Galaxy, fans can play along at the just-launched SpideyTracker.com, which promises to host live activations, content drops, easter eggs, and fan-submitted sightings.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Brand New Day hits theaters July 31. Tickets are on sale now.
