Chewy the Newfoundland may be a massive dog, but he's a gentle giant when it comes to his 96-year-old great-grandma. They've always had a special relationship, and, by now, their brains are practically on the same wavelength. When it comes to cooling off on the hottest day of the year (so far), they both had the same idea.

Leave it to grandparents and great-grandparents to spoil their little ones rotten! Chewy's mom shared the heartwarming family moment on the dog's social media account, @chewythenewfie, and her viewers agree this has to be one of the best ways to start the summer-especially for a big, fluffy dog like this grateful boy!

A pool for dogs is the perfect way to keep dogs cool and entertained when the weather gets warm. It can be especially helpful for dogs like Chewy with thick coats, who may have trouble regulating their body temperature in the heat.

"Chewy is so appreciative," @brett6873 noticed. He adores his great-grandma! Lounging in the pool while watching the sunset with his favorite person is the best way to spend an evening, and it's safe to say that everyone is completely jealous of their relationship.

Commenter @sn0wykitty wrote, "Imagine how she was in the store: 'Oh, I'm gonna buy this pool for my little baby.'" It doesn't get much sweeter than that! Every glimpse Chewy's fans get of his days spent with his great-grandma proves just how loved he is.

Newfoundlands in the Heat

Some dog breeds, like Chihuahuas, thrive in the heat, but others, like Newfoundlands, have thick coats and webbed feet that are better equipped for the snow. This can be challenging to navigate in the summer months, but some planning and creativity (like purchasing a pool for dogs) will keep dogs safe throughout every heat wave.

To keep dogs cool in the summer, avoid heavy exercise and going outside during peak daylight hours. Morning and evening are ideal times to schedule walks, but don't forget the bug spray and high-visibility accessories to keep you and your dog visible on dark roads. And, of course, make sure everyone is hydrated!

This dog's great-grandma knows what she's doing with this adorable surprise, and I have the feeling this is just the first time Chewy will use his pool this summer.
