Pasta and Provisions plans new store
Pasta & Provisions, the popular gourmet store on Providence Road, is making plans to branch out again, this time near Park Road in the Madison Park area.
General manager Dylan George, the son of owner Tommy George, said they have signed a lease on a new space and plan to have it open by late summer or early fall. He didn’t want to give the exact location yet, but said it’s close to Montford Drive, which has become a destination for food fans.
Pasta & Provisions used to have other locations, including a small store in uptown. But that eventually closed and the George family concentrated on the original location, 1528 Providence Road, and on their wholesale business, providing pastas to markets and restaurants around town.
Dylan said that joining the business last fall makes it easier for them to expand. Their pastas are being sold at the Atherton Market.
“It’s the right time,” he said. “It makes sense now.”
The new store will be smaller, but may have some additions, like hot food, sandwiches and possibly a salad bar. George said they also plan to have beer on tap and wine by the glass. They also probably will have later hours.
