On the Food Network show “Beat Bobby Flay,” two chefs compete for a chance to go head to head with celebrity chef Bobby Flay. On the Dec. 14 episode, one of the chefs may look very familiar.

That would be Blake Hartwick, of Bonterra. Hartwick will face French chef David Baruthio of Baru 66 in Des Moines. Judges Andrew Zimmern and Anne Burrell will decide which one goes up against Flay.

Hartwick, obviously, can’t say whether he ends up cooking against Flay. He’ll only say, “It’s a real honor to represent Charlotte and our culinary community.”

The episode will air at 10 p.m. Dec. 14, according to the Food Network.

Hartwick has worked at a number of restaurants in Charlotte since arriving here in 1993, including Bistro 100, Carpe Diem and Ratcliffe on the Green, and he’s cooked at several events for the James Beard Foundation.
