Restaurant with an Asian street-food menu is coming to Charlotte
A restaurant with a menu inspired by the founders' trips through seven Asian countries will open in South End early next year.
Hawkers Asian Street Fare will be at 1930 Camden Road with a design inspired by hawker stalls in Asian countries, including concrete, street art and neon made by Charlotte artists.
The restaurant will have a full bar, with wine, cocktails on tap and local craft beers. It's also planned to be dog-friendly.
The four founders based the menu on experiences they had while traveling in Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan. Expect dishes like Singapore chili crab; chicka-rones — Philippine fried chicken skins; roti canai, an Asian flatbread; and curry laksa.
In addition to lunch and dinner hours, expect late-night specials Wednesday-Saturday nights.
After opening in Orlando in 2011, Hawkers has four more locations in Florida, with new locations also coming to Atlanta and Delray Beach in 2018 and 2019.
