Honor with relish
Julie Busha of Cramerton, the owner of the relish brand Slawsa, was one of the women named “Top Women in Grocery” by Progressive Grocer, an industry trade magazine. The Top Women award celebrates achievement and talent in retail food. Busha and her Slawsa brand were featured on the TV show “Shark Tank” in 2013.

The Tennessee-based barbecue team Rocky Top won its second Grand Championship last weekend at the annual Blue Ridge BBQ and Music Festival in Tryon, the state’s official barbecue championship.
Rocky Top also won the Sam’s Club National BBQ Tour event in Asheville two weeks ago. About 80 teams competed this year in the 22nd annual Blue Ridge championship. Among the N.C. winners, Two Old Men and a Grill from Bessemer City won second place overall and the Reserve Grand Champion slot, given to the highest-scoring N.C.-based team. Spam truck hits the road
Watch for the SpamAmerican truck this week, a traveling event for Spam maker Hormel. Raleigh chef Ryan Conklin will serve his Cuban Spamwich, along with free samples and Coconut Spam Spears with Pineapple Chutney by Food Network’s Sunny Anderson. The truck will stop from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday at MDI in Hickory, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Food Lion in Salisbury, and 5:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Charlotte Knights game, 324 S. Mint St. If you spot it and post a picture on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtags #spamcan and #promo, you get a chance to win a trip to the 2016 Waikiki Spam Jam in Hawaii.
