Pillsbury Launches 2 New Funfetti Cake Mixes and 3 Frostings for Summer
Pillsbury is dropping even more patriotic treats just in time for the milestone summer ahead.
On Monday, the popular brand of boxed baking mixes revealed it's adding five more limited-edition newcomers to its spirited lineup, which includes the recently released Stars & Stripes Toaster Strudel, Red, White and Blue Cookies and Apple Pie Cookie Dough.
Pillsbury's new Funfetti Stars & Stripes Sprinkle Cake Mix and Funfetti Stars & Stripes Red Swirl Cake Mix will debut this year alongside three "vibrant" Funfetti frostings as part of its limited-edition summer series that's launching nationwide to celebrate the country's semiquincentennial, with the company joking that it's "a recipe 250 years in the making."

"This lineup is all about bringing people together to celebrate in a fun, memorable-and delicious-way," Dan Anglemyer, chief operating officer at Hometown Food Company (the company behind Pillsbury shelf-stable baking mixes), explained in a May 4 statement.

Both recipes offer a fun, festive take on Pillsbury's fan-favorite Funfetti vanilla cake mix, with one key difference between the two. The Swirl mix results in a red-and-white marbled cake, while the Funfetti Stars & Stripes offers a more patriotic spin on the original Funfetti cake, with colorful candy bits scattered throughout. Both bake up to 24 cupcakes and can be decorated with any sprinkles, glaze, or icing-including any of its three newcomers.
- White Vanilla Frosting (15.6 oz) – a classic, creamy finish with red, white and blue sprinkles for pops of color.
- Blue Vanilla Frosting (15.6 oz) – a bold patriotic hue with red, white and blue sprinkles.
- Red Vanilla Frosting (15.6 oz) – a vibrant finishing touch with red, white and blue sprinkles.
"As we gear up for America's 250th birthday, we wanted to make it easier than ever for families to bake up something special," Anglemyer added, suggesting the products' "bold red, white and blue colors" mixed with the classic Funfetti flavor, will "help create festive desserts that look as incredible as they taste-and turn any gathering into a true celebration."
Where Are Pillsbury's Patriotic Funfetti Cake Mixes and Frostings Available?
Pillsbury's Funfetti Stars & Stripes Cake Mixes will begin rolling out to grocery retailers nationwide this month, as will the new White Vanilla Frosting (prices may vary), according to the official announcement. Those looking to get their hands on a tub of its new red or blue frostings will have to head to Walmart, where they will be stocked exclusively.
All five new Pillsbury items are expected to be available through Independence Day, with the items set to disappear shortly thereafter.
