Sam Adams Drops 2 Retro Summer Variety Packs With Beers That Can't Be Found Anywhere Else
Samuel Adams is brewing up nostalgia-and historically accurate beer-with a set of limited-edition drops.
This summer, in honor of the United States' semiquincentennial, the Boston-founded beer brand is celebrating with two variety packs: the Brewer Patriot Collection and Star Spangled Variety Pack, each of which are packed with exclusive brews that fans won't find in any other pack.
"The independent spirit that shaped America also fuels Samuel Adams," Jon London, senior director and head of beer at Boston Beer Company, teased in a statement, noting that the "historic summer" ahead is worthy of something that "[honors] the past and [raises] a glass to the future."
Sam Adams Brewer Patriot Collection Returns Just in Time to Celebrate America's 250th Anniversary
Initially released in 2006, the Sam Adams Brewer Patriot Collection is made with "historically inspired ingredients from the founding-era" that have been reimagined for modern drinkers. Featured in the pack are four brews: George Washington Porter, 1790 Hard Root Beer, James Madison Dark Wheat Ale and No. 3 Honey Ginger Ale.

- George Washington Porter (5.5 percent ABV): Toasted malt with notes of toffee, cocoa and dates with a more assertive hop finish. It features two "special ingredients," molasses and licorice. Recommended pairings include Blackened fish, steak au poivre, gingerbread, bittersweet chocolate mousse .
- 1790 Hard Root Beer (5.5 percent ABV): Spicy, herbal notes of sassafras, wintergreen and licorice balanced with sweetness with historical ingredients such as molasses, honey and vanilla. It's best paired with fried chicken, clams, pizza, vanilla ice cream, per the brand.
- James Madison Dark Wheat Ale (5.5 percent ABV): Tart, sweet, subtle smoky finish with notes of cocoa and toffee. Its special ingredient is smoked malted barley. Recommended pairings include grilled chicken, salmon, swordfish, bread pudding.
- No. 3 Honey Ginger Ale (5.5 percent ABV): Bright, zesty with the floral sweetness of wildflower honey balanced by a subtle maltiness, brewed with ginger, lemon peel and honey. Suggested food pairings include glazed ham, Chinese spareribs, honey mustard chicken, baklava, lemon meringue pie.
Sam Adams Star Spangled Variety Pack Arrives for Summer 2026
For tis Star Spangled Variety Pack, Sam Adams gathers some "tried-and-true seasonal classics," including its Summer Ale, Porch Rocker, American Light and Blueberry Lager-which can only be found in this variety pack-and pairs them with retro-inspired patriotic packaging for the season.

- Summer Ale (5.3 percent ABV): Bright blend of orange, lime, and lemon peels, balanced with a subtle spice from grains of paradise, gives it a zesty, refreshing taste. A seasonal favorite.
- Porch Rocker (4.5 percent ABV): Bright, tangy, and undeniably refreshing, Porchrocker is our take on the classic German Radler-a crisp golden Helles lager blended with just the right amount of real lemon for a fresh-squeezed citrus kick.
- American Light (4.2 percent ABV): Pleasant floral hop notes balanced by a light sweetness for the perfect combo of flavor and easy drinking
- Blueberry Lager (5.5 percent ABV): Bursting with blueberry aroma, this refreshing lager delivers a bold, juicy burst of blueberry in an easy-drinking brew. It can only be found in the Star Spangled Variety Pack and puts a crisp twist on a flavor typically reserved for an ale (i.e. Blue Point's Blueberry Ale and Sea Dog's Blueberry Wheat Ale)-it also offers a fresh, fun and equally fruity option to the impossible to find Bapple.
Where Will the Limited-Edition Variety Packs Be Available?
Sam Adams said its Brewer Patriot Collection will be available as a four pack exclusively via the Give Them Beer website for $17.76 each, beginning today (May 28) but only while supplies last.
