Charlotte-area food notes
Forecast: Dry, with botanical flavors
Looking to trim a few calories and a little sugar out of holiday-cocktail season? Dry Sparkling is a new line of clear sparkling water in vivid flavors: Blood Orange, Vanilla Bean, Rhubarb, Rainier Cherry, Lavender, Juniper Berry, Cucumber and Ginger. Use them plain or as mixers; they have 45 to 70 calories per 12-ounce serving. They cost $1.49-$1.99 for 12-ounce cans or bottles, $5.99-$7.99 for four-packs and $6.99 for 750 ml bottles (lavender, ginger or cucumber only in that size). Look for them at Common Market, Target, Earth Fare, Fresh Market and Bi-Lo.
