Dean Mullis: Cows need to be on the right side of the fence

I’m mending fences with my dad, and I don’t mean that metaphorically. I’m actually stringing and stretching barbed wire and driving in metal T-posts.

A neighbor called him Thursday to tell him his cows were in their wheat field and he wanted to get that problem fixed. I had planned to cut up chickens on Friday – but cows need to be on the right side of the fence.

My dad turned 79 in December and does not much care to drive metal T-posts anymore, so I went to assist.

For those of you who think otherwise, I am good for something.

Dean Mullis writes from Laughing Owl Farm in Richfield.
