Cotswold adds a farmers market

With farmers markets opening up for spring, add a new one to the list: The Cotswold Farmers Market will open May 7 at 309 S. Sharon Amity Road, across from Cotswold Mall. Run by the Charlotte Providence Rotary and sponsored by Levine Children’s Hospital, it will operate 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays through Oct. 29. It will start with 15 vendors with locally produced food, with room for 22 stands. Details: Cotswold Farmers Market on Facebook.

Heirloom class shakes it up

Spring cocktails featuring Fair Game Beverage Co. are on the menu for a cocktail class 1-4 p.m. April 16 at Heirloom Restaurant, 8470 Bellhaven Blvd. Tickets are $50 per person, $90 per couple, and include three cocktails and small bites by chef Clark Barlowe. Reservations: 704-595-7710.

Hops for Hospice at Foxcroft

Foxcroft Wine Co., 7824 Fairview Road, will include more than a dozen breweries, food and a silent auction for its third annual Hops for Hospice, 1-4 p.m. April 30. The festival raises money for Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Details: 704-365-6550.

JBF adds more scholarships

The James Beard Foundation has added a new program to its scholarships. The JBF National Scholars Program will award scholarships to 10 candidates across the country for food science, food studies, business, culinary arts and hospitality. Applications are due by May 15 and are available online at scholarsapply.org/jamesbeard.
